A four-and-a-half-minute short shot in just two days, over the Christmas holidays of 2020, in the middle of the pandemic. That December’s restrictions shaped every production decision: few people, almost no time, locations you could actually reach.

The subject is the regret of not having said or done something for someone you love. At Christmas 2020 that was not a narrative hypothesis but the situation of a great many families, kept apart by lockdown zones or by a death. The authors chose to make it a tribute to a positive feeling rather than an elegy: the regret exists because the affection did.

The film is dedicated “to everyone who will be missed tonight”.

It is written, scored and performed by Antonio Ciravolo, a doctor and writer, who also wrote the short film Smiley. Filming took place in Catania and the surrounding province.

On release the film was made available free to readers of the Quotidiano di Sicilia, which ran a piece on it on 30 December 2020.
